In 2009, we were delighted to hold three fabulous Gold Lunch events in prominent Sydney restaurants in support of Gold Week. The Gold Lunch events were afternoons of fun and indulgence where guests came together to celebrate life for a worthy cause.
With fine food and wine, inspirational speakers, celebrity MC's, premium auction items and wonderful raffles the Gold Lunches are on their way to becoming the hottest charity lunch event on the social calendar.
At every Gold Lunch event, drinks were provided by Lion Nathan and Godl Week major partner nudie, and an exclusive Levendi Jewellery ring raffle was provided thanks to Levendi Jewellers.
Thanks to the generosity of so many supporters, over $130,000 was raised from all three events.
Nick's Gold Lunch Event - 29 May
The inaugural Gold Lunch Event was held in 2006 at Nick's Bar and Grill Sydney to celebrate the launch of Gold Week. Now, four Gold Lunches later, the Nicks Gold Lunch and remains a simply wonderful excuse to enjoy a Friday afternoon with friends, in support of Sydney Children's Hospital. The lunch included a superb three-course seafood menu prepared by Nick's Head Chef, Benjamin Dalton.MC Kerri-Anne Kennerley entertained guests such as Jaynie Seal, Antonia Kidman, Tiffany Tilley, Malcolm and Lucy Turnbull, Skye Leckie and Sarah Groen. Nikki Dunlop shared her inspiring story of her daughter Pia's miracle recovery when her heart suddenly arrested. Thanks to the wonderful work of the Sydney Children's Hospital, Pia is now a well and happy six-year old.
Exciting auction items included a holiday for two flying Emirates business class, to the five-star Lake Okareka Lodge in New Zealand, and a private concert with the String Section of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, thanks to BigPond.
Bathers' Gold Lunch Event - 3 June
The 2nd annual 2009 Bathers' Gold Lunch was held on Wednesday 3 June. 100 prominent Mosman and North Shore locals enjoyed the picturesque view of Balmoral Beach, dining on canapés and a two course meal, generously donated and prepared by The Bathers' Pavilion's well known chef owner/chef Serge Dansereau, also a Gold Week Ambassador.Adam Williams, Creative Director of ‘So You Think You Can Dance' amongst other international successes was the entertaining MC and hit with the guests. Special guests also included Kit Willow and Diesel.
Hugos Manly Gold Lunch - 4 June
A new Gold Lunch event for 2009 was held at Hugos Manly on Thursday 4 June. The Gold Lunch had the honour of being the very first charity event to be held at this new restaurant!Gold Week Ambassador Pete Evans and his team, including Masterchef contestant Julia served a delicious four course meal for over 200 guests. The fabulous MC was Bernard Curry from Home and Away and guests were given a special performance by country music star Amber Lawrence. Belinda Fletcher shared her touching story about her son Harrison, a patient at Sydney Children's Hospital and the ‘face' of Gold Week.
